Personally I was told years ago that these lakes don't freeze enough. As a big guy I wouldn't fish on anything less than 4" and that is pushing it if you don't know the area. Too many variable cause weak spots and through you go.
Is there any spots with enough ice to ice fish on Truman right now? Been wanting to get out, cabin fever is killing me. Thanks!

There may have been fishable ice a week ago. Now would be a very bad time to go, ice is melting like crazy, with voids everywhere from the snow pack.
I've heard rumors of guys doing it in years past, I'm too chicken to try myself, and it usually isn't here long enough for me to get that stir crazy.
I also don't like the idea of ice fishing a reservoir that may have the water level dropping under the ice. The flotation of the ice is what actually holds you up, air gaps are very bad.

I was always told ice fishing any water with a dam is asking for trouble. never know when the water level is going to drop.
Good advice Jakesdad, I was at a res. many years ago, went out and punched the first hole for thickness check, the water level was actually a good foot below the ice, we got the heck out of there fast.

If I remember we had 4 or 5 inches of ice. Actually the water below had ice on it but I did not stick around to find out how much.
I think this is going on at LOZ? Ive heard there is some dock damage etc as Ameren has had to make electricity and Truman is low. they have been pulling water level way
down
I heard on the radio that ameren dropped it more last week than they do for the normal 4 week spring dump.Sent from my SM-G960U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
Yep we have friends with dock and lift damage; making power for St. Louis last week is what I was told.
