Went out Saturday and searched for some crappie to catch trolling. Spent 4 hours looking and trolling for them with crank baits. I didn’t catch a single crappie. so changed tactics and looked for fish in 10 - 20 ft of water away from the main lake and all the non fishing boat traffic. No luck with this. Went to the main lake and found fish in 60ft plus water 18-20 ft down on standing timber. Fought the waves from the traffic! Nothing would bite. Tried about 15 different color jigs and finally found the right one. Bobby garland monkey milk. I was using a double jig setup. Then I was getting bit on a regular basis. Only problem was the crappie were about 9”. I only caught two 10” or bigger. Probably caught 45 fish that were 9” and they went back in the. Lake. Had three instances of catching two on one drop. All three times I thought I finally caught a good sized fish only to find two 9 inches on the line. I missed more bits on this day than I can ever remember. I’m convinced the crappie were shocking my jig by smacking it with their tail. I caught at least 10 fish in the side no where near their mouth.
Beautiful day on the water.

At least you were there. They will come, I can't wait to get back down there after the big boats go back to sleep.
