    Default TheRo0sTer & Baitwaster's Adventure

More of an adventure for me, but we both were new to this area of the lake. On my way down on 83 at Barclay a deer decided to change its mind when I swerved into the other lane. BAM

BACK to fishing, last minute plans worked out well. I learned a trick or two from Jake and we put some fish on the deck. Wind wreaked havoc on positioning, but it wasn't the end of our day. Off course, the White Bass were boiling all around. We broke out heavier tackle and caught a more than a handful each. Toward the end of the morning we landed a keeper Crappie. Not a story to tell mom, but fishing with plenty of catching and great company! These two end up coming home with me.

Bummer about the car but sounds like a good day fishing to take your mind off it. Well for a little bit anyway. Nice catching

I did do some reading on minnows and keeping them alive. Most of the articles and videos echoed the need for cold or cool water. I noticed a lot of different anglers using Igloo and Engle coolers for bait boxes. I heard from one guy that Bakers used to give ziplock bags of ice with your minnow purchase. So, Friday evening I bough my minnows for the next day. I brought them home and put a bottle of frozen water in the box. Before I went to bed, I cracked the lid of my box and placed them in our spare refrigerator and turned on the air pump. Out of 2 dozen minnows I only had 2 floaters the next morning and not a single floater up until the point we pulled the boat out. Do any of you use G Juice? I'm curious if you have had good results from it?

Hey RoOsTer, Thanks for your service. My neighbor bought a new 17' Lund this spring and hit a deer at 70 on the interstate. They totaled his boat as the deer missed the truck but nailed the boat in the bow. Buckle the whole right side.

Wow! I'm so glad I was in my car and not hauling my boat with my truck. There would not have been any slamming of brakes. It would have been creaming a deer and wrecking my truck.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with the deer, but at least it wasn't much damage and you didn't let it hinder your fishing plans. Knob Noster Missouri brings back some memories of my youth many years ago (around 1964) when my dad, (who was an Air Force lifer), was stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base and attached to the Air Police, guarding the B-52 Bombers... that were then based there in good numbers. I remember many a car ride to (either) Sedalia or Warrensburg, which were the closest cities to the base and to the (then) (tiny) crossroads town of Knob Noster.

Thanks for sharing your day with the rest of us.

we bought a mazda 3 with city braking and my wife is clueless as to looking anywhere but straight ahead and slow reactions but have to say when a deer did jump in front of her the mazda stopped before hitting it.

glad you got to fish anyway tho.
