Default Changes in Life coming in the near future

Momma talking about retiring and coming off the road, Which is a good thing. Bad thing is she wants to follow her oldest daughter out to Arizona. Not sure exactly as We haven't talked a lot about it, but she said maybe with-in 6 months...Hate to go, I grew up in that desert environment...

Finally got to talk some sense into momma this week, the move will be delayed some...Too much to do, not enough time or money...Everything is about doubled if not tripled what it is here...And no ripnlips, it's not going to be a planter, nor get sold...Sure hope to get the boat in the water this spring.
Trying to talk her into staying here and taking a trip every couple months...would be cheaper in the long run...just have to see...Gonna try to get to camp this year for sure...

I don't blame you. I was in Phoenix a year ago September. It was 119 outside! That was just stupid hot to me. All the locals were saying "its a dry heat". I told them you bake cookies in a dry heat. 119 is still ******* HOT!!!

Speck, I grew up in that mess, Granted not quite that hot, but yes hot in the summer. In the summer time right before dawn it might dip to 70 deg, and because of the excessive heat in the day it felt freezing at 70...In Barstow I have seen it 100 degrees at 230 in the morning too. Barstow is about 371 miles northwest of Phoenix, about 1/2 way between Needles and LA...I-40 and I-15 junction, but same High desert as Phoenix...But yes dry heat, and HOT!!!

If we haven't moved there by August, I think I'm gonna take Momma down there and remind her just how hot it gets in person. She try's to freeze me here now with the A/C and a fan on in the winter Now...I'm afraid I would have to install a freezer compressor to the A/C out there to get the house cool enough for her....Maybe...

Desert fishin' pretty much sucks. Stick with the Ozarks.
Ah, Barstow......... Used to fly into Vegas and drive over frequently when I was with BNSF. Came around a bend once and there were lights everywhere, 6 CHIPS and a red Viper.
Driver sitting on the road next to it in cuffs. Heard stories about the levee that ran by the locomotive shop between it and the dry river bed. Said folks there fish the river when it rains hard and it flows.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

The Majave river is what your talking about, it always flows, usually under ground and away from the ocean(north east to east, depending on what part your on). When it rains hard it will flow above ground. But usually a deep dark brown and at about 60 mph with what appears to be rapids every where you look too... I have lived there off and on up til I was 19yrs old. Have survived the Santa Ana winds gusting 75 mph with sustained winds at 60mph and dirt so thick you couldn't see 50 ft in front of you. Most houses there are on a cement foundation and once the 2x4 base boards start to dry, a very fine dirt will blow in under the walls when the Santa Ana's pick up. Sweep it up, wait an hout and can't tell you ever swept in the first place...Had a next door neighbor there once who worked in the electric motor repair shop at BNSF engine shop...the BNSF, and military is what keeps Barstow on the map...
