Have not lived in Springfield for a long time. I will recommend Bill at Son Sac Marine on Stockton. Short drive, fixed right.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

I used to have one of those 60's Fastwin 18's. It's a powerhouse as small outboards go. I had a marine mechanic here tell me that he'd put it up against most modern 25's. I dont' know about that, but I do know mine was about as fast as i ever wanted to push my old 14' jon boat.

Thanks to everyone responding. ktjones, yes I am hoping I can get some life back into her. I watched some youtube videos of a couple guys who had one they repaired on a 16 foot aluminum v hull and with the author his friend and son as he said he showed the gps on his phone had the boat doing 22 mph. the wake behind the boat that was in the picture frame showed it was moving right along. If I can get anywhere near that I'll be happy.
Peculiarmike, hey man yep, going to talk with them shortly and see what they say. Worst comes to worse, I have been in contact with a guy over in Ohio who owns a shop who stocks all the parts for this, and providing the compression check is good, estimated parts and shipping at about 318.00. Now on top of that would be any shop supplies, and Labor involved at Son Sac Marine plus the drive up and back twice. But this Wednesday I'm going down to get my car from Florida, so the gas bill won't be so bad. A four cyl. verses that v-8 in the truck. Sure have missed that Miata's fuel millage the last 3 1/2 months....for sure. On top of momma not working because of that operation sure has tightened up the budget for sure...I am hoping to still make it up for at least a day trip Saturday of the Spring Camp adventure. Not sure right now, but we gonna try real hard.
Well thanks again everyone for the info again. Eric
