    Thumbs up Cabelas Ripcord SI

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Fishing-wise it was pretty slow for me -- it didn't really pick up until late morning yesterday at our docks at LOZ.

However, upon the suggestion of someone here at crappie.com, I did try the Cabelas Ripcord SI for the first time this weekend. I was primarily vertical jigging, but this line was REALLY great! ZERO twist, zero memory, limp and extremely sensitive.

I only made a couple of casts with it but it did fine with that, too. I was using the 10 lb. test (2 lb. diameter) in Hi-Vis Yellow. Prior to spooling with Ripcord, I was using 4 lb. Mr. Crappie (hi-vis) but I've got to say I think the Ripcord SI is fantastic.

Just thought I'd post my experience in case any vertical jiggers out there want to give it a try. I'm looking forward to giving it a better workout on the casting side when fishing with some buddies in April. Good luck!

Your experience matches mine. I use it exclusively for jigging in brush. It isn't worth a crap in the wind. You will spend the entire day with your rod tip right down on the surface of the water to maintain any feel. I will take a black magic marker and mark depths - 5', 10', 15'. It really helps.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to pick some up and place it on one of my long poles.

I picked up some original spiderwire 10/2 last year on clearance and tried it for crappie. I loved the limpness, feel, and not losing hooks b/c I could bend them out. On the long pole with a breeze, the limpness made it wrap around the end fairly regularly which was annoying to keep getting undone. Overall I was happy with it and will continue to use it.
