Looking forward to more feedback as I never fished that part of the state.

In 2014 Monzingo was ranked the 79th best bass fishing lake in the U.S. according to Bassmaster. Not what your looking for but FYI......

Off topic and I apologize to the OP but on a side note.

I would like to find some place to fish that is only accessible by small boat in the Northwest part of the state. Since I always fish from a kayak I keep feeling I should find a place where it is actually an advantage.

Bilby Ranch lake does not allow gas motors. I've taken my kayaks there once or twice. There are several places like that, around. I enjoy fishing from my kayaks, just wish I had one with a more comfortable backrest

Mozingo recently reduced their limit from 30 fish to 15 due to lower populations. It is a 1000 acre but bass boats are common-supposed speed limit of 40 mph. I used to get a 30 fish limit there, but the last couple years have been tough. Smithville is a popular crappie lake and has areas with lots of trees-which slows big boats down so kinder to kayakers. I kayak tournament fish but use my G3 for the bigger lakes and when I want to cover a lot of water.

Bilby Ranch Lake allows gas motors at no wake speed....Belcher (55 acres), all the Cameron lakes, Jamesport Community (27acres), Limpp (29acres) are electric only. Basically, any MDC lake over 70 acres allows gas motors, but small lakes are no wake. Some city lakes like Hamilton (90 acres) are the exception..should be signs at ramps stating electric only if that rule is in place...

as far as bank fishing...spring bank fishing on all small MDC lakes and Ponds should be good, but some do get substantial weed growth as we get into summer

    hope this helps

That's my bad, you are correct. I guess I made the assumption because I hardly see anyone out there that's not in a bass buggy or a kayak lol. This is good info, thank you

Feeder creeks and slack current areas have crappie in them. Not huge numbers but big in size when found.

Watkin's Mill needs more crappie harvest. No length limit and you can keep 30/day. It's 100 acres and does allow outboards with over 10hp having to operate at no wake speed. I see folks using canoes and kayaks there. It doesn't have a lot of boat traffic.
Thanks wolfhnd, Warrensburger thanked you for this post
