    Default Best Value priced Electronics?

my son bought new Silverado to pull Pontoon I bought and in return gave him my dakota to sell. now he is addicted to fishing off toon, lives close by to it and wants to buy me/himself better electroncis than the cheap lowrance 3 unit on it . what would be a good value in new electronics that has SI, DI GPS and chirp technology? Doesn't have to be best and newest don't want him to spend fortune on it.

Just looking for opinions, know everyone has their favorite.

    thanks.

Definitely want to follow this. I've been looking at Fish/depth finder for 2 days, So many to choose from it's a little mind boggling.

Forget the chirp and get the garmin echomap 73sv or 93sv depending on what you can find a great deal on. I have the 93sv on the back of my boat and a new chirp model 73 on the front. I prefer the 2"larger screen over the chirp for the same money. Imo the chirp is another marketing tactic to sell new finders. The difference is negligible compared to the difference in a 2 inch larger screen. The echo maps are great because you don't have to buy a $200 map card with them the lakes are already contoured to 1 foot detail

Thanks JW i threw in the chirp cause I have seen it a lot but don't know WTH it is anyway. Would like the bigger screen and this kind of feedback is why I came on here. CDC guys are the best!

For the best prices on line or anywhere, go to Walmart web site. Great prices.

I like my Garmin Echomap 73sv. I'm good as long as I wear my glasses. No chirp but I don't do no twitter anyway. Look around, lower price than the chirper.
The maps have MO lake brushpiles already on them and are pre-installed on the unit.
I have a Garmin Striker up front, DownVu & standard locator, I like it also.
    My $.02.
Go to Bass Pro Shop or Cabela's and play with the locators, they will answer your questions.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

If you aren't afraid of a used unit go to the Bass Boat Central (BBC) forum and check their ads. The bass boys are worse than us crappie guys about gadgets so they change DFs more than their underwear. I'm watching for a plain 7" sonar/GPS to hook up to my Terrova. Some good buys on there.

If you buy new I 2nd the recommendation for Brian at BBG Marine. I've done business with him and he is top notch.

Helix series. If you want SI, DS, or mapping I'd strongly recommend at least the 7 inch. Humminbird customer service is top notch
