that's how we have always done it.
Been towing boat trailers for 40 years and had never heard of this until today and it makes a lot of sense....I had bought a new trailer for my old boat and sold the old trailer and the man shows up this morning to get it, I put the coupler onto his hitch and then hooked up the tow chains , when man reached down and redone tow chains crossing them, he said if the trailer became unhooked it would keep the trailer tounge up off of the road........makes sense...Learn something everyday !!
A FISH IN THE PAN IS WORTH TWO IN THE LAKE
Yep, been doing that for years. But best trailer tip ever is holding the bottom of the steering wheel. Nothing would make my dad laugh more than watching me try to back a trailer

MO state law quote -
"Two strong safety chains should be crisscrossed to support the trailer's coupler if it becomes disconnected from the towing vehicle. The chains should be strong enough to hold the combined weight of the vessel, engine, and trailer."
Howdy Monte!
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
A gun, like any other source of power, is a force for either good or evil, being neither in itself, but dependent upon those who possess it
