I use a phleuger president reel with a BPS crappiemax pro rod and love it.
I have 100$ to spend on a new light or ultra light 5-6' rod and reel combo. I was just curious on everyone's opinions. It will mainly be a jigging pole. If I were to go to bass pro then my limit jumps up to about 150. I do have rogers sporting goods not to far off either also. I just dont know which way to go. I have always fished with 20$ combos and I want something nicer this time. Any suggestions?

There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
The Pflueger President is a good real in the $50 range. I have all 3 sizes and love them all. Try out some different rods in the store to see which one feels best. A good graphite 7.5 foot rod is a good choice for casting light jigs, but enough backbone to handle the occasional striper, LM, or Cat that crashes the party.

Bass Pro micro-light in a 6' 6" - 7', 59.99 and a Shimano Sienna either a 500 or 1000 model, 30.00 and a spool of crappie max high viz line, 8.00. Not a thing wrong with a Pflueger President combo, I have 4 setups like this and they work flawlessly, even if you hook the occasional small mouth, large mouth, striper or cat. Light power fast action gives more than enough backbone.

Even a Pfleuger Trion reel is great and a Shakeshere Micro grafite 7 foot rod 17 dollars at Wall Mart is really good. Put 6 lb crystial fireline on it cast a mile no tangles has 2 lb diameter strong enough to pull jigs loose.
Thanks all for the response. I think I am leaning toward the pflueger president. And I'll pick out a rod while I am there. Now to just get the lake to thaw out so I can fish while I'm off.
