    Default Truman advise

Going to Truman next week for four days. Looking to put my son on some fish. He is tired of catching blanks. Staying at Sterett Creek. I used to fish it regularly when I lived in KC but I have only been out on Truman once in the last 20 years and it was a bust. Old spots didn't produce like they use to. Just would like to know where the summer pattern is now and what they are hitting on. Crappie, Bass, Whites any old fish will do just to watch him pull some in. Appreciate any info out there.

That's a short boat ride to the weir next to the dam. They catch lots of different species there. Good luck and have a ball!

What Vic n said for sure from where your staying. I haven't fished it but know some guys that do well there. Try dipping the trees. Crappie have been on the flats off the main channel. Minnows and jigs have produced nice fish. I fish mostly on the upper Grand and do pretty good some times. They had the Crappie masters last weekend and I heard that most of the teams fished the upper grand in the trees and brush piles. Reports had the fish close to the bottom in 10 to 15 fow. Good Luck and enjoy the time with your boy!

The marina has several guides that work out of there. You might think about a half day trip to get up to speed and get him on some fish. After that you'll have a good idea what to do.
