It may be an old fisherman's tale, but I've always heard that when the cows are lying down, the fishing isn't going to be good. And it has been my experience that this is true a lot of the time.
went up to the pond this morning, cows in the field across the way were laying down, and when I tossed the fish food in hardly any fish came up to eat. Usually the water just boils with activity,,, So I told y'all that to ask this, How was fishing today, was it slow?

We got out a little after 6 and the top water bass bite was on! Had 10 hits on first 10 casts with several hook ups. Within 45 minutes it was dead... caught a few on square bill cranks including a few crappie.
Decided to fish for whites on Truman today instead of crappie and had a limit and a walleye in a couple hours or so.
The lazy cow theory has been busted more than once. Fish bit ok for us yesterday and the day before. Better than expected actually. Considering the intense sunlight/heat.
Cows lay around a lot. It's part of their job.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.
I've never noticed the cows, but the amount of wildlife I see on my way to the water sure seems to relate to the fishing. So many variables effect fish and wildlife activity, the more in your favor the better.
Maybe they all got seein glasses and seen a frightful thing walk to water line. Scared the crap out of them.
