    Default Smithville

Hoping to hit Smithville later this week wondering if anyone had been fishing it and if they were close to the banks yet?

    Thanks

I fished Smithville Sunday afternoon with my wife and daughter. We put in at crows creek and went under the bridge. I found some fish in five foot of water. Nothing of real size unfortunately. We brought home four keepers.

Haven't been out there yet this year. Perhaps this weekend.

I put in at W last Friday, water temp was 58. Went up Lynn and Roberts found some water in the lower 60s' but nothing happening on the banks, got beat up by the wind so called it a day. 80 this weekend, should be getting close.

The spawn was starting at Truman last weekend, so it may be moving north to the Smithville latitude by now, assuming the rain doesn't throw them a curve. I will be trying it out this weekend trying some spots from last year that produced. It may be "take a number" time, so I'll just plan on waking up early to beat the crowd.

Fished this afternoon and bank fishermen were catching shorts with a few keepers. All males with some tails beat up. I fished hot brush pile and managed 4 keepers over 11 with the biggest almost 14". Have caught a few this past week with teeth marks in them that cuts deep. One filet was punctured through to backbone about 3/8" wide in two places. Must be a big fish to try to eat a 11" crappie. Water temp 65* when I quit.

North of Arnold rd caught about 5 13 in and a couple of 9 in on the bank 2 ft down on bobbers while fishing from the bank. All caught on Large Minnows no hits on jigs. Only had an hour and a half to fish before dark when they shut off. Not sure about the water temps. Also the biguns came out of big trees while the smaller ones were in open water same spot. Not a really fast bite but its getting there. Sorry for the lack of info on the area, but every person in town would be fishing it if i gave too much info.

I'll take a guess where you were at Ellis .
May all your live wells be full.
