I use the bait casting reals like jigging15 does. I find that if I get 2-3 rods hung up at a time I can just reach down and hit the thumb bar to release the tension on the rod. Make sure you have the freespool tightened so it won't backlash. This lets me lift the rod and pull the snag loose without breaking rods.
God bless Charlie Brewer and Bobby Garland.

Just a quick thought. I called BnM and told them about the rod. Without question they shipped me a new rod tip. Great customer service in my opinion. Hope this may sway others into buying from them. I don't get any support from them, just letting others know.

Thanks for the tips, me and a co-worker will be bobbing around on Sunday and Monday upstream of Bucksaw in a Black Lowe 195. We will act like we know what we are doing, but you can always stop and laugh at us too. I'm a police officer so I'm thick skinned, just prepared to get a rib or two back.

Hang in there you should have better luck fishing further up the Grand. Look at the lake map so you can see where they told you to fish and good luck.

Then pick that rod up and move forward with trolling motor and set rod back down when past the hang up. The key for fishing a new area and not sure about what's under the water is go slow and even slower. Should be able to go all day and not lose anything if fishing in to the wind. But you really have to watch the line to see when it moves back toward the boat.
Slow down your going to fast
