My worst example was when I launched my 12 year old son below Truman in December and the big motor would not start. By the time he trolled up to the dock we had water in the floor. Managed to put the plug in from the inside an get it on the trailer. Took 30 minutes to drain and bilge the water out.
God bless Charlie Brewer and Bobby Garland.

I have done it once and hopefully never do it again. Instead up starting up the motor and pulling it off like normally. I was earlier enough in the morning that nobody else was there so I just pulled it off and tied it to the dock. Did I mention it was about 40. Degrees out. Thankfully water temp was about 55. Anyways. When I got back down to the boat and getting ready to start it up and drive off. I remembered and though crap. So I pulled the boat around the dock and on the shore to try to reach the drain plug. Well I could reach it. So I just left the bot on the shore to go and get my truck to pull it out. Well apparently I didn't have it on shore good enough cause when I got back down to the ramp my boat was drifting off. Luckily the rope was still attached and I only had to wade in the water about, um, let's just say waist deep

Yep! Twice in one day for me! The second time was about 15 minutes after telling my son in law the story of how my stupid butt forgot to put the plug in earlier in the day fishing with my Dad. That's how we impress the younger generation at my house! Now....the plug sits in the drivers seat so at least it is close at hand if/when I forget it again!!!!

Not yet, but we did have a built in plug come loose while snagging for spoonbill on LoZ. By the time we realized it, there was so much water in the boat that a 115 prop wouldnt plane out! We kept it wot until enough water came out to plane out and kept driving till the water was pretty well all out before stopping long enough for me to lean back and screw the plug back in.

I did it once 30 years ago and learned my lesson and now have a boat that doesn't leak and I don't have to take the plug out. I keep it covered when not in use and there is no reason to take the plug out as far as I am concerned

I haven't done it yet. Came close before. I was backing the boat in, and remembered when the boat hit the water. Worst I've had was unloading the boat by myself and the rope came untied from the trailer. Glad there were some guys fishing not far from the ramp and retrieved it for me. Sure didn't feel like swimming.

Yep guilty, the first time I ever did it was when I was in Ga. and got my first bass boat. Put it in, tied to dock, parked truck, stepped in boat and a fountain came out the vent. Got it back on the trailer and could not find a plug on the boat. Back to bait store for a handful of plugs, haven't done it since, but have been close, I look at it every time I walk behind the boat.

I think we all have at one time or another. That's not too bad. Wait till your by yourself on the lake and when you launch your boat you forget to hook your line or cable on it. You better hope that the wind is in your favor.
