Dead on, Scrat! If you forget your plug, and you're already off the trailer, get underway quick. It'll suck that water right out! Done it before!
I think everyone that has owned a boat for any length of time has done that. I now have my drain plug on a clip on my transom tie down. When I take the tie down off, I have to unhook the drain plug so hopefully, with it in my hand I will put it in the drain hole.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
I know someone who did it twice in one day! Hint 7 5 9
oh come on I've done way worse than that
Yep in January fishing at state park no wake zone. We unloaded and started fishing and my youngest son says dad we are sinking I turned around and yes we are. Off comes coat and shirt head in water and pulled plug out looked at it and put it back in same wrong whole and almost sunk before getting back on trailer. After several words and 20 minutes of draining off fishing we went. No way of inkng now son has bilge pump o every couple minutes.

my old boat it happened more than once and the bilge would kick on auto at that point I would get going to drain. On the newer Deep V it has happened once and it takes awhile before you know you are taking on water. Only way I knew it was trying to get on plane. Luckily I have long arms
Hate to admit that I have done that more than once. Most memorable one was on Pomme night fishing.
One Friday evening rushed to drive down to night fish. Hurried to get the boat in just after dark, roared across the lake to a spot by the bluffs. Sat up on the back of the double seats and fished for 1/2 or more. Was having a great time catching a few bass. Had a hard strike and reeled in and worm cut off right behind the hook. No problem I will just get another from tackle box in back.
Turned around and put foot down on floor of boat....the instant I realized water was well over my ankle to fun was gone. Bilge pump had gone out some time back and didn't replace it cuz I never used it .
Looked back and the bottom cowl of the motor is in the water and battery submurged....... .
Luckily that Old Rude started right up, put it in gear and gave it some throttle so I could get going to drain out water.
Well what happened was the water started going to the back of the boat and the motor going deeper in the water as well as lake water was coming over the transom.
I had to start out at idle trying to move this sunken barge and very few minutes increase the throttle a tad. Was not sure but thought was boat was still taking on water. After what seemed like an eternity it gradually started started picking up some speed with that 100hp at near full throttle I spent the next 45 min. driving around to get water out.
Never did find the plug down in the back well.
Fishin was over.......
Yes, I did put in a new bilge pump.....an automatic one to boot.
A buddy of mine has a wire attached to his and he hangs it on the steering wheel as a reminder before he gets the boat off the trailer.
I haven't done it in the ranger as it's still real water tight.
I bilge everything. Only time the plug comes out is when I clean It in the driveway and then it goes back.
Prior to this boat. Several times. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I learned the drive down the lake to unload the water at a very young age.
