    Default HELP

Wife, son, and I are going to be off from June 24th-July 1st and looking for a nice vacation. My boy is 2 and a half years old and loves to fish. Also loves water parks, heck just likes water in general. Was thinking about coming to branson area and visiting silver dollar city. I think that would be fun. Now my dilemma is..... should I bring my boat and crappie fish as well? Are there any lakes relatively close to branson that is yielding decent crappie fishing? We may also do some tubing as well. Im about 6 hours away, so if it wouldn't be worth pulling my boat I would rather not. I know nothing of the area up there, but if there are crappie, im bringing my boat haha. Thanks in advance for any help.

Oh heck yes!! Tablerock for regular fishing, Taneycomo if you want to try your hand at trout fishing. If you want to go a little further there is Stockton and Pomme not far up the road. Branson is a great area, just learn the back roads as soon as you can because getting from one spot to another can be.........wayyyyy beyond frustrating.

I know Stockton and Pomme have a lot of crankbait guys, but not sure about Tablerock. Taneycomo is more drift fishing I think.

Don't know about trolling for Trout. Water is GIN clear at Taneycomo, around the Landing, up from the landing everywhere we went it was clean and clear. Check the fishing regulations, I don't know. WE used Marabou jigs, yellow and brown, Salmon Eggs was NOT working.

The only place your going to loose your wallet is from your wife shopping! All jokes aside bring a lot of money! We live in Springfield and we drive down to Branson to buy shoes for myself and my wife at the Nike Factory Outlet Store. My wife is on her feet a lot with her job at the hospital and we can drive down there and buy us just 2 pairs each and its like buy one get one free compared to the prices of the same Nike shoes up here.

Also plan a trip to Springfield to Bass Pro! Go to the Outlet Store next door to the main store. Check out the fishing rods! Take your time, dig thru the fishing rods! I have purchased good ultra light rods for $5.00 to $20.00 each.

Also since I read you have a little one! Check out the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery. Here is a link to give you some information on it! Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery Information | Missouri Department of Conservation Its a great place to get pictures and memories that will last a lifetime!

Stockton and Pomme de Terre offer some good fishing sometimes. But your looking at somewhere from an hour and a half to 2 hours drive time from Branson. Right now Stockton, Pomme de Terre and Truman are getting lots of water in them due to all the rain in the area. I would just watch the reports from the Missouri board most the guys on here say it like it is so you can trust their reports.

Also while your in the Bass Pro Outlet store next door to the main store here in Springfield check out the reconditioned fishing reels that they have in the Outlet store you might save some money on a few reels!
