    Default GPS pointers??????

    Hey Guys

Just started marking waypoints for shipwrecks in the Gulf of Mexico offered by the local bait shop online.

My question is I cannot figure out how to put in lat and long without using the rocker pointer, is their a menu where I can just type it in? I have a Garmin 60 CSx. Hell, I even read the manual (well most of it).

Any help or websites that offer fishing spot cordinances would be awesome.

Anybody love "Giftcards" as much a me this time of year? Man, what a (fishing) time saver.:D

    Thanks, Utah Mike

    Thanks, Mike

i did the same thing bugs. read the manual until your eyes cross on ya, then pitch it and just start playing! although, i never knew my handheld Garmin that i use for canoe trips and hiking was totally waterproof until i bought the same one for my father in law for christmas yesterday and read it on the box. so i guess i should have read the manual a little better.

Thanks Guys, I'll check out the main page also.

Man isn't life great when your sittin right on top of the best structure and you have the perfect bait? Happened today, Guys in 100-300k Gulf boats tryin to scooch in on the Welkers. We were perfectly anchored right on top of an old barge and I snooped around the fishing docks and went and bought some Boston Mackrel. Man we were catching fish for 6 hrs straight one after another, had to leave only because we ran out while other boats came and left after either figuring out we had the spot or the bait and they didn't. Man, what a feeling, doesn't happen much. Caught Snapper, Hogfish, Sheephead, Dogfish.

Needless to say GPS worked flawlessly today. Yea, I marked that WAYPOINT.

    Default Entering Waypoints

...thought I'd chime in to assist with your question...Do you have a PC cable for your GPS?

I use software on my pc to enter my waypoints into a file. Then, download the file to my Garmin. Well actually, my Garmin was stolen out of my truck last week, but when I replace it I'm sure my method will be the same...You still need to type in the numbers but the keyboard is easier and faster. Of course, the easiest way is to get a friend with his waypoints in a file to let you have a copy of the file....but that's a pretty good friend to give you his fishing spots.

Anyway, take a look at "Easy GPS" (that's free) or "Expert GPS" (very affordable). Try these links...

BTW, where are you? I fish with my Dad out of Destin FL. I have some waypoints already entered off the internet. If you want them I could share.

    Good Luck,
    Bert

i think i know what one of those fish you were catching looks like mike. i think i would get really confused going to saltwater. i'd be trying to throw a six inch zoom worm for baracuda.

    Mike,

I forgot to point out another advantage of the software I mentioned. With Expert GPS, you get the benefit of topo maps and photo maps. If you know where your spot is on the map, you can just point at it and the coordinate is created for you...no typing at all. Then you can download as many coordinates/waypoints you want into your GPS via PC cable. I'm sure other software is just as (or more) but this is the one I use.

    Take Care,
    Bert

Thanks guys for all the congrats, life is good, enjoy the ride.

Slab, I'm in Ft. Walton Beach. That would be awesome if you could send me some spots. In the Bay or Gulf. I'll check out those websites also, appreciate it.

Any and all of you, if you're going to be in the Ft. Walton, Destin, FL area between now and Jan 15 let me know and we'll go.

How's Crappieheads Dad? Shoot.. I should have remembered his name, he's a fishing legend in my eyes. Man what a MAN. I've never wanted to live past 70ish, but after meeting him, ****, if I could still fish at 90......and still hold a beer around a campfire........you can bet I would.
