Got there this afternoon, boats everywhere. North of Camp Branch , in the coves , down by the dam. And not one posting. Really ?? Got my limit, less than three hours . No minnows, just plastic baits. Last one off of lake, 5:00 p.m. The fish were attacking the bait, no soft bites, no nibbles, they were hungry. The shad were deep 19 - 27 ft down. That MDC mobile app showing brush piles, a lot of them have rotted away, they are NOT there any more. Going again in the morning another great day before the rain comes.

I caught a limit of 9"ers off the camp branch dock in 3.5 hours. Probably 3-4 shorts for every keeper. Pink and white slabbusters with most in 12-15'.
I was the second to last boat off the water! You probably saw us leaving when you were hitting the ramp. Put in at Camp Branch about one thirty. Headed up the Little Platte to the marina. Fished the docks for about an hour and a half no bites, nothing. I know more about the Camp Branch docks so we headed back there. Set up on our spot and within a few minutes we had our first fish and keeper. My son and I ended up with 24 keepers for the day. I did not have my electronics with me but have a rough idea of the depth around the marina. We were in 20' to deeper water. The best way to describe it is to let you gig fall all the way to the bottom. Bring it up about half a reel turn and let it rest. Then do it again slow and let it rest. If nothing say 10ft or so off the bottom open up the bail and send it back down. If you have a hit and miss drop it back down to that depth and see if you get bit. Most productive for us was a 1/32 oz jig in a shad color. Not my normal go to color but today it worked. Our bite was more of a light tap on the rod. Feel that tap and raise the rod tip. If he's there you'll know. They did fight after that cold and healthy!
I wish I was one but the Doctor says no maybe in the spring! Thanks for the report.
May all your live wells be full.Dave
Got out early caught a lot could have kept a limit but only kept 9 over 10". Gave them to couple fishing from the bank that go skunked. I caught them on brush and schools of shad, mostly on the top of the brush and around the edges..tried lots of colors they all caught fish
Sounds like some good reports.
Here fishy, fishy, fishy...
Yes, I saw ya'll loading up. I was down by the Litton Center, never left that pile, the whole limit ,came off of that one pile, 19-21 ft deep. Orange and hot pink 1 1/2 inch , and surprisingly was catching some off of a Bobby Garland Stroller, orange and chartreuse ! Yellow and chartreuse. Sounds like ya'll had a great day also. Going again this morning, try to get my limit again before the rain comes. Good luck to ya all.
I went fri and sat. I have the black tracker v hull. I was north of camp branch under the power lines. Fri was great had a limit and the boat back on the trailer in about 2 hours. On saturday it was a little more work. It seemed like they would chase shad around for a while then retreat to the brushpiles. When they were out chasing they were up around 15 ft and then would go back down to 25 or 30 into the brushpiles.
Welcome to the site Catfish99 and thanks for your report. Keep them coming.
