I watched one of his many videos and he said his dad taught him that.

I do the same thing with line- especially when pitching/dipping trees. I use braid for that, so I have the line in my hand to detect light bites. I fly-fish, so dealing with line in my left hand isn't a big issue-it is easier to store line than constantly reeling- I extend my lest hand out making a big triangle with the line until it is at depth-then jig. It is only possible to a certain depth though until I have to take line from the reel itself.

I caught a 16 inch walleye on Stockton earlier in the spring on a road-runner. That was a pleasant surprise!

Lots of Walley on Stockton, when I troll cranks in the spring I pick up several, and in the winter there are lots caught up close to Orlens trail cove, eagle island is also good, and Hawker point is a favorite of several, as is Masters area up the Little Sac river, Turnback can be awesome in the summer. I usually toss them back, not much of a walley fisherman,,,,, but some like it.
