    There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

    Im hearing more and more vertical fishing and just raising the rod instead of a slow reel. Good to get that thumb on

    I have been doing that for years, just never think to mention it, it is a good way to rest your old arthritic hands.

    I have seen Kevin Rodgers hold his pole still and just pull the line out till the bite, and lots of old timer do that, wonder where he learned that?
