Don't know your lake, but on Stockton yep , we troll in the fall and get a pretty good bite, till the water hits 50 the we can catch them on cranks over brush mostly jerk baits.
I was out crappie fishing yesterday evening. I was fishing brushpiles in 12 to20 feet of water and caught one or two small ones. I hate to admit after a couple hours of not catching I went looking for hybrids. I caught some nice hybrids and a couple nice crappie on a shallow diving shad colored crankbait. I was fishing it medium to fast.
So I am now wondering do crappie prefer more aggressive baits during this time of year?

Was fishing a brushpile this weekend at LOZ and seemed to only get the dinks vertical fishing.
Than decided to cast and pendulum over brush.
Got more bites and bigger fish.
Seemed they wanted it on he fall...
Out fished vertical 4 to one.
