    Default Nightmare

I had a day yesterday I will not forget soon, but I learned a few things. I have been guiding for 12 years and yesterday was the most miserable day I have had up to date.
Two guys from a northern state came to me and asked for an 8 hour trip on Lake Ozark for crappie. They said they were guides on a northern lake, and just wanted me to drive them around and they would tell me the spots they wanted to fish. They had all the tackle they wanted to use, and were bringing their lunch. WOW What a deal HA!
They showed up at pb2 and right away I knew it was going to be a day. They had three tackle boxes that weight about 75lb apace mostly stocked with walleye baits, 8 fishing poles that ranged from 24" ice rods to 14' trolling rods all strung with what looked like 20lb test Stren that must have been 3 or 4 years old. When I made a suggestion on what rods to take I was told "We know what we are doing and we know how to fish" As I started to leave the dock one of the guy's picked up one of the huge rods to tie on a bait, he swung it around and hits me in the face with it, knocking my hat in the lake.
Just as we started to go on plane right out of the cove one of the guys stood up and started to walk to the front deck and stand. I slowed down and told him he had to be seated before I could continue. He said that was a $hi^^y rule.
I wanted to go to the Fort Wood Recreation area and some Condos I have in the area, knowing there were some nice Crappie on them. Well these guys wanted to go the the left, and pointed to a cove just to the right of the bridge. I knew the area was not a good pick because it's shallow and not much cover. I stopped at the area THEY wanted to fish. I just set and watched the circus unfold. First The guy wanted to run the trolling motor, I usually will not allow it but they were PRO'S. The guy didn't know how to run a foot control and said he only had a stick control on his boat. The other Guy started off by walking off the back deck into the floor with one big step and fell on his face. At this point I was looking for my attorneys phone number. I started to have images of me being dressed in a suit and sitting in a court room, with these two wore neck braces and point towards me.
At this point I had to take charge of the running of the boat. They were talking about finding some brush piles. One set and watched the graph and I watched the front graph. It was like a bowl with nothing at all in it. We ran across a school of shad and they yelled "There is a bunch of nice crappie stop the boat. I though OH! My God. The first cast of they made I have never seen so many twist in a line. When I tried to tell them there were no crappie in the area I was told "We're not paying for advice on how to fish Just drive the Dam boat.
Well that was the straw that broke my back. I said it was the end of the trip and were going to the dock. After about 3 minuted of cussing I got them seated and went to the dock. They said the wanted there money back. When I told them they would only get 80% back they wanted to tell me all about how they would kick my butt. When I told them they would have a leak or two in there bodies they changed there tone.
I hate to loose a client but I saw they were wasting there money and I would likely wind up spending more to repair damages to my equipment than I made.
I have only mentioned a few of the tricks they pulled. I went home and found six peanut & Jelly sandwiches under the console that had been stepped on and smeared into the carpet. And in less than an hour they had tackle scattered from the back of the boat to the front, one Musky lure was stuck in the side of the passengers seat.
I 'm telling this just to let you guy's know that Crazy is still alive and well, watch out for them PRO"s.

    Wow,
Sounds like a nightmare! You didn't pick them up at Party Cove did you? Should have stopped and netted some of those "crappie" and fixed them a shore lunch!

Payment up front is a good policy.
Gives the guide the driving reigns.
Sorry to hear about your experience.

    Default Holy Cow!

God Bless guides if thats the crap you all have to put up with, it sounds like they should have been made into anchors, but they would probably have screwed that up to.
Crappie don't sleep, is that why I'm so tired?

that was bad, It would be hard to be a guide and have to deal with that "stuff".
