    Default smithville ice

Well,my river section is frozen with a layer of ice. There are a few open patches where wood cover breaks the surface.Picked up a few dinks last friday.Ramp section has some open spots, but a 10 mph wind at home = about 25 on the open water.Got the tree up mon.,work today, mail packages wed.
Hopefully will check it out thur. a.m..Not ready to hit the docks for open water yet
Lots of bald eagles showing up this last 2 weeks.
There is one by the big platte river,on one of 2 trees, almost every day that I go too work, always puts me in a good mood to see them come back!

Don't even get me started on the Chefs game sunday

hey cook, watch for golden eagles in that area also. lots of times they are mistaken for immature balds, but they fly around there. every winter they hang out below bagnell damn and in a few spots around LOZ as well. that is a powerful bird, they'll eat fish, but they also do one of those "dive bombs" INTO deer (or whatever medium to large mammal is around) stuns the prey so bad they get eaten while still alive. now that's tough!!!

Cook... I'd like to see the eagles... Saw a pair in your area a few years ago but guess I haven't had my eyes open during my Sunday drives (scary thought)... Where on the Platte (cross road) are the two trees you mentioned. (Lotsa trees up there). Might as well take the binoculars along and wander a ways further north when I go to the Christmas tree farm this weekend.

On 169 going north to st.joe.
As soon as you go over the platte bridge there is a house and auto body shop on the right(east)he has horses fenced in an area with marshy water. There are 2 dead trees on the north edge of the pond, its usually on the broken of tree at the top.

mike, the owner,is a great guy and does quality job!!
