    Default Mark Twain Pulling Advice

Heading up to the MTL friday. Bringing the wife and two kids. I am sure there will be plenty of beach and tube time, however, I would love for the family to see what Daddy does when he goes to Mississippi. Anyone been pulling lately? If so, are you mostly main lake or up the middle of some of the big arms. Never pulled at MTL. Not looking for your spots just general direction. PM if you like. The wife and kids thank you in advance.

    Whacker,

It should be about time and if we get our gear in on time I think we'll be pullin on Sunday also...... early though. Going to try a different method so we will probably be on the main lake running the bluffs, which is where we almost always pull in the summer. Points, mouths of creeks, islands and there are a few flats with minimal structure, that's where we focus.

    I know, pretty vague........ sorry!

route U, that is what we have done when we pull up there. You can also run outside edges of timber but be prepared to get hung up more. Whacker, just start doing what you do elsewhere and you will get it figgered out.

Yup! We pull up in the arms quite often and try to "tick the timber" but bringing a new (to us) technique out and going to focus on the lower end of the lake I think, atleast early and late in the day.

Thanks fellas. With family this weekend I am looking to keep it simple. So I will be trying to avoid the tree tipping on this trip and maybe just run into a few out in the safety of the more open bluff water. Did pick up some planer boards tho. Not even bringing on this trip. I will try saving these for the first time when I am with a more adult crowd. Got a feeling the curse words will be flying as I try to figure out how to use these damn boards.

They are a piece of cake once you get past the learning curve. I've been using them for almost 10 years now and it is just second nature. They allow you to cover so much more water and increase your catch ratio substantially. It really helps to go a few times with someone to learn their techniques.
Good luck to you and post a report.
