Great Smithville Report -------NOT!

Went up tonight with my family and fought the wind. Tried five or six of my favorite spring spots and not much good. A couple of bites and my daughter caught a short. We moved a lot from North to South and could not believe the water temp. Seen 70 all the way to 77 which if someone told me that I wouldn’t have NOT believed it. Fishing for us stunk but did see a person or two catch small one maybe we just stink? No Gas Smell Mark!

The bridge was packed with parked cars, you know the one; the one to the right of the W bridge, well the first W bridge from C hwy; wait it’s to the left? By land or by sea I guess it depends if it was by boat or car? Joe………………………..

I headed back to Truman to guide!

If Bill ain't catchin' they ain't bitetin just saying. 70 to 77 water temp spawns already over oh well maybe next year

Well I caught a limit this morning real early and that's not a fib. But I was there before sunrise and the bite was on but slowed down by 7am. The water temp was in upper 50s after being around 70 Monday afternoon and it has been real warm since then. First thought was my temp gauge was off but another boat had same temp. Believe the lake rolled over on the south end and moss floating in cove. Why else would the temp drop that much with the warm weather we have had?? All but one of my limit were males. Think females went back deep waiting for water to warm again. Mondays catch were mostly females but eggs were not ready yet. Just when I think its figured out I have to start over!

That's it! I'm going tomorrow to prove once and for all that I can fish and NOT catch fish during the spawn...as usual!!! I may need to call up some guides I know for some pointers!!!!

Looks like I totally missed the spawn at smithville this year. At least I got 2 good days in clinton, ks

I just look at the bright side, got to fish with the family and didn’t have to clean fish!

And didn’t have to follow Joedog to an Island or argue about which side of the lake was right or left!
