I don't mind all the shananigans as I look at it as a source of entertainment. My fishing partner and I have been known to go to the lake just to watch this type of activity. I have to admit, there I times when I've never laughed as hard as I have watching people: launch their boat in the middle of a three-boat ramp (not to mention watching the people react to it); put their tie-downs and transom saver on their boat while in the water; launch their boat off the trailer, only to find out it doesn't start; forget to put their plug in; driver steps on the gas when pulling the boat out of the water and dumps the passenger, etc. I have to admit I used to get really upset when I was younger, but these days I have a whole different perspective.

My boat slid off the trailer once.... Didn't land in water. Tough to get out of the way in that situation.
I think if I ever retire and I'll be the same way. What bursts your bubble is when you only have X amount of time to get the fishing in between work and other unplanned activities, it's frustrating to wait and extra 10 minutes. I'm getting better, but still feel the twinge.

We get our boat ready in "staging" area. Husband gets in boat while I pull up to ramp and then back down and launch boat. Yes I am a girl and can back down a ramp and back out of a parking spot at "Wal-Mart". I then go park rig while husband is putting around in the boat out of the way. The only exception is if there is a going to be a problem with parking. Like hard to find spot and hard to park spot. We then unload boat and park it to the side while I hold the rope on front of boat and husband parks.
I am new to the boating world and may not be as good as some as far as backing, but even I can see some of the foolish stuff at the ramps. But those of you that want to make fun of others make sure you look at all the details. I put my boat in and tie off to the dock while I park the truck. Wife takes care if the kids. One time, the outsides of both docks were filled, and I could not pull out of the way, so I dropped my boat in and tied off to the inside- I know it is not the right thing to do, but was my only option. Went and parked the truck, ran back to my boat, and some jerk wanted to run his mouth. I tried to tell him had I waited for an outside, it would have been another fifteen minutes, but he just wanted to be a jerk. I blew it off and had a great day in the water.
LOL I didn't mean all women can't back a boat down a ramp, just seems that some men put their wifes/girlfriends in doing something that they are not comfortable in doing.
I think the best place to watch people launching boats is at the dead water below Truman Dam, seen some pretty funny stuff down there even a guy going for a swim in February. Qwack Qwack.

When I am fishing by myself, I try to look around and let everyone in line go first that has a fishing partner, because they should be able to launch faster. I try to remember when I am watching people, who is watching me. Everyone is guilty of doing something stupid in their lives.
I think that's the biggest peeve of mine. A-holes who put their wives on the spot by making them back the boat down and then sit there and yell at them the whole time. Losers.
