On my 2003 Suburban you can push the dome light over ride botton five times to turn the headlights off.
Hey Twitch all ya gotta do is shut her off and push down the e-brake pedal one click and it will disable your headlamps and aint enough to engage your park brake. Fire it back up and launch the boat.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

Thanks Bigby for the trick on the 03 I am going to try that. Good to learn a new trick now and then,
Bolivar Landing has 4 ramps, but at least twice last Summer one rig would have them all next to impossible to launch or load. I've backed from the parking area and around people to get to one of the end ramps to take out many times. At least most of the personal watercraft don't show till afternoon. It is fun to watch them fight over my parking space, several times I've seen the wife or kid get out and stand in the parking spot trying to save it.
Twitch there is also a fuse you can pull that shuts off day time running lights. I have a 98 as well and the fuse is right inside drivers door on the end of the dash.
Reminds me of a time I was fishin with a relative of mine and he pulled right in on a bank fisherman. So embarrassing for me.
I don't like to get too close to boats either. Too many times I get worked up and it ruins my day when I get griped at. One of the reasons I quit golfing. Stinkin' ranger comes and tells your group to speed up when you've been waiting all day on the group in front of ya.
Oh well. I just gotta get over stuff quickly and focus on the tasks at hand.
Standing in the Gap
I have seen all the same things you all have seen. It might not help a bit but why couldn't we all call our powers that be and ask if they could put up some simple signs with basic rules of loading and unloading? Have signs as you are still up the hill and others as you pull down the ramp.Moving the pay box up the hill to the staging area would also be a big help. On ramps that have a pay box I have seen countless people pull down and then get out and walk up to mess with paying and it takes forever. That should all be done in advance and if the box was moved away from ramp I think it would make a huge difference on high traffic days. Maybe if you put up signs saying folks need to prep boat in parking lot or staging area and not down at the water some would get the message. Even a simple reminder to please unload and load as quick as possible might help? I'm not sure what the rules would look like but I see no reason the signs couldn't happen. Might educate some and help us all out? I know some people know better and just don't care but I believe most just don't know the code. People that come to the lake from time to time and just arn't sharp enough to realize they are screwing up and have never been told. No, I have no great idea that this would completely solve our problem, but I also believe we need to try to find solutions for problems when we can. I will make a call today so I can at least feel like Im supporting my comments. If enough people call in a professional manner it might get something started?

A lot is common sense just being considerate. But I try to remember we were all new at one time and not everyone has the awareness that comes with experience. The headlight deal for instance, the majority of folks just simply never think about it.
