I'm still working on the rigging. I need more poles for quick change over. I have 25lb test braided with 25lb Cajun off the back if I'm running in wood. You can bend the hooks out. Need a glove to pull it out though.

Other poles are 6lb. test to run open water.

Note that it's best to use floating lures so when the line climbs over the brush the lures just float up behind it and clear the brush. Sometime they hang on the way back down. But if you back straight up, the heavy weight pulls down on the lure and you can lift and drop the weight and that often will pull the crank out.

It's not actually pushing, but it vertical speed trolling. This allows you to maneuver the boat in tighter circles than dragging the bait 100' behind the boat. Sometimes the ones hanging out the back out perform the rods in front. I like the ones in front because I run them under the cone so I can see the exact depth on the depth finder. You can actually see the fish come up to the bait and hit it. Sometimes you see them come up and drop back to the bottom after looking at the bait. It's pretty cool. As good as top water fishing when the bite is on.
How long is the leader from the swivel to the bandit?

6" to 3' depending on how close your run them together. Distance apart is dependent on the length of the pole. I put them farther apart if I'm fishing deep water. When running shallow I'll put them closer.

The thing to avoid is hanging the crankbait at the same height as the second three way swivel. The treble hooks hang up in the swivel.

When running two baits, if the baits are not the same model, always have the deeper diving bait on the bottom. I made that mistake and was wondering why my cranks were getting twisted.

Be sure to have good rod holders in the front. Holding by hand will wear you out.

Fished Sat. Oct 7th from 7:30 - 4:00. One Keeper in 21ft of Water.
Did some slow trolling with jigs. Did some Crank Bait Running and some vertical jigging. Still catching spots while trolling, but the crappie are tight lipped. Had 10 hit and spits on the jigging rod. Shad are spread across the surface and extend far into the coves. Looks like there was a good spawn this past year.

Man I suck at this stuff when the fish aren't bitin'.
Gonna keep on trying though. The only way to get better is to keep doin' it and learn from it.

Kit I was waiting for your report. I thought it was slow coming because you were tired from all the fish you caught. I'm glad I didn't fish then. I hate being skunked and thinking the fish are smarter than me. With all that bait out there why would they want to chew on plastic. I'll proble fish it this weekend.
