i was hoping mark twain would turn on with some decent fish when the water went down. oh well it beats working.
Went to Indian Creek with Fishroper today. Water was amazingly clear there. could see just over a foot down. Caught a few in about 13-15 fow, but small. Moved onto main lake, and man was it muddy. We could only see about 3 inches. Nothing. Back to Little Indian, and again could see just over a foot down. Nothing there either. Did run into a guy near the mouth that said he'd just got his 15th, and heading in. Back to Indian Creek, and nothing. During the first trip into indian creek, we chatted with a guy who reported tearing em up with a double rig and powerbait. He was catching several, but all small, and was keeping everything. From what we saw, everything he tossed in his livewell was likely the 8-9 inch fish. Not complaining about his keep, but that certainly changes what catching a limit means to us. Generally our cut off is 10, and maybe a few 9 1/2s if their healthy and thick. forgot to add that the water we found was high 80*s and little indian was low 90*s

I sure hope things straighten out when they get the lake level where they want it and stop letting out so much water.
Our crappie supply is dwindling ...we have yet to clean any fish this year!!! We've caught some keepers but only one here, two there and we end up throwing them back. I guess this year we're going to take what the lake is willing to give us and the lake is being extremely stingy.
The MTL area is supposed to get some rain this weekend which, if widespread, might bring the lake back up a bit....hope not. I'm not sure if the steady draw down is what has the fishing a bit off or if the summer pattern is just a bit late developing but I sure as heck haven't been able to find fish in my usual late July locations.
