We fish a tournament every June on Sardis to raise money for Christmas gifts for under privilege children. It's a pretty nice pay out, but kinda an unwritten rule amongst us participants, that we donate our winnings back to the charity.
What percentage goes to the charity? What percentage goes to first place, second place, third place, big fish??
Thanks for any help.

They use to have a band playing after the tournament and a big fish fry. They sold tickets to the fish fry. Folks would come from miles around to listen to the music eat fish. They also raffled a bunch of great items that were donated by area business'. If you fished the tournament, they gave you tickets to the fish fry for entering.
The folks who organized the whole thing treated us like rock stars. All we do is show up and fish.

Sounds like a great one Chris. Around 75%-80% is usual payout for fundraiser tournaments.
20% to charity and 80% to pay outs. But you can also do food, raffles and silent auction items to further money raised.
The fund raising tournaments I have put together did a 50/50 split. Most of the time the winners donate their money back to the cause. Brad
