    small planer boards hook right on the line, one board per rod.

    those are a different kind look on ebay it will show u different kinds if u want the boards that stay out u will need a planer board mast also this is used to reel in your boards u let out boards on port and starboard sides let out line to desired distance let out lure to desired distance attach line to clip let out line to desired distance from boat and start fishing .The only place ive seen those used were on lake Michigan for shallow fish

    If you check some of the walleye websites they go into a little more detail. They really add to your ability to spread a rig out 60 to 80 ft. searching. I like them for running a rig right next to shore and the boat is 30 ft. out.

    I use the old lady's ironing board and my shirts come out just fine...........

    Does using a planer board require a heavier rod than your typical trolling rod?

    What I read it does, the planer board puts a lot of stress on the rod but I'm sure it depends what bait you are using also. Thanks for posting the video Speck, might have to give this a try.

    I use medium heavy bass rods for my planers. They put way too much pull on a regular crappie trolling rod.

    they make a mini board that works with small cranks and worn harnesses.
