    Default Fishing Jacomo tomorrow

I've lived in Seattle most of my life, so while I've fished a ton, I'm new to Missouri fishing and trying to learn how to catch crappie. I've fished the north handicap dock a few times and done alright, and Sunday I tried fishing from my inflatable raft for a couple hours without any luck. I launched at Lake Jacomo Marina and tried casting jigs around structure in the first two coves south of there without any luck other than one possible bite. Surface temp was 62 degrees.

I don't know what to make of this weather, what with a snow storm a few weeks ago and nearly 90 degrees tomorrow. Since I'm rowing an inflatable raft, I can't really go trolling up and down the whole lake -- especially with ~15 mph winds tomorrow. Any tips on where to try on Jacomo tomorrow? I can't figure out where or how deep I'm supposed to be looking for them right now. Thanks!

I don't know if Jacomo is necessarily "premiere" crappie fishing, but I know there are crappie in there and I know it's the time of year for them to be doing their thing. If it were me, I'd fish the same way as other spawning lakes. Up near the banks (like right ON the edge of the bank!) and let a jig slllloooowly come back toward you. Color shouldn't matter much. Or, if you're taken to fishing with minnows, I'd use those about 18" under a bobber about two or three feet from shore...just so that minnow sits right at the bottom. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Also, welcome to the board and welcome to MO!

Thanks so much! Wind was a major pain, just over 20 mph... while rowing an inflatable raft with a second person in it! Got to one of the coves and anchored in a few different spots from around 4-8 PM, though. Between the two of us, we caught two small bluegills, a couple even smaller crappie, and NEARLY got a catfish. Fought it for around 20 minutes on 4 lb line, saw it a couple times, and then finally it either bit through the line or the knot came undone Conservatively speaking though, it was easily 2-3 feet. That was intense with such light line!

Next up... a trolling motor. That, or scheduling my days off around the wind.
