Default Smithville - 4.26.2013 - Not a lot of anything going on

This was supposed to be titled "Truman - 4.26.2013" but since it was 10' high, Dad and I decided to make the shorter drive to Smithville. After suiting up in our best rain gear, we were finally ready to hit the water at about 9AM... or so we thought. Turns out, two life jackets are needed for two people, who knew? So after a trip back to Smithville marine, and $70 later, we were ready to hit the water by 10.

Fished one of the first big cuts to the East of Camp Branch, seeing fish starting to stage, but couldn't coax a bite with our jigs. After thoroughly fishing the whole area, Dad decided to start throwing a white rooster tail on a large mud flat, and first cast - Boom! reeled a 13" white bass back to the boat. After three hours of not catching crappie, we switched gears for whites, and had the same amount of luck.

All in all, 7 hours on the water, 1 white to show for it.

    Hopefully next week looks better!

    Good luck to all!

Fished today water temp 49-52 not a fish to speak of tried mouth of multiple coves , in coves , sailboat cove. No one I ran into caught a thing either. Headed to Truman tommorow they are catching them on the banks sporadically. I think we are still a week away at smithville.

Hit Smithville for a few hours today as well. ZIP NADA for me. Water temps are starting to climb but still no bites to show for it. Got the KC Corporate challenge fishing tournament next Sat! Gotta figure out where those green jeans are hanging ASAP or i'm gonna look silly

Ha! Yeah, we didn't attempt it. Being one of two trucks in the whole lot, we decided that this would be the day the law would be making their rounds. Strapped everything back down and headed back to town after figuring out that the Camp Branch Marina didn't have much of a selection.

I needed a new jacket anyhow..

Oh, and we were seeing 49 - 51 degrees everywhere we went.

Your probably right! Glad you noticed it before water patrol pointed it out!
