I have both Lowrance 4 models. Gps on the helm and dsi on troll. I up graded from a 20 yr old Humminbd. I have been very impressed with both units.

I am still trying to learn more about both. I am beginning to think I need a lot more time on the water for that to happen..........................................

    Sorry I started dreaming again..................................

I will check out the Elite 4, the only concern about DSI is trying to pick out fish while sitting at the trolling motor, unless I put both kind of units up there but not sure that would work.

I think there is something on the lowrance installation sheet about not mounting xducers to close together but I did not read much because mine are front and back mounts.
I have not used this one sitting still and looking for fish but I am amazed at the detail of the structure.
Both of my units are color and I like them better than my old black/gray screen.
Personally I would leave the old unit in place and mount the new one and work with it awhile. That way you can come pair the difference of the two. It is a good idea to test them over a known struture if possible.
    Good Luck.

if you get one, it wont take you verry long to figure out what is fish and what is not, your going to be surprised at what you see with the DI. stuff you thought were fish will be brush, them little silvery dots on the lowrance are pretty easy to figure out, with a little time on the water no problem good luck
