Knowing that Smithville was mostly free of ice Sunday, my buddy and I headed down yeterday for
some crappie actions. Got down to the lake and found it covered with a layer of ice. We are thinking
the calm winds Tuesday night let it freeze up a bit. Couldn't stand it so we put the boat in and
headed out breaking the ice. Broke ice all the way up to Shady cove to find it mostly all open.
Seen all kinds of shad, but the crappie were not interested in what we offered. We couldn't fish
east or west side of the bluff, just to much ice floating around after we had broken it up.
Fished till about 3:00 and ended up with 4 crappie between the two of us. Talked with a
couple other boats and they did not have any fish. Still a good day on the lake.

A FISH IN THE PAN IS WORTH TWO IN THE LAKE
It's still fun getting out. Those cold water fish taste the best!!!
