Thanks, Jake
It's a good fireworks show and it's neat being on the water. However it is very busy and the only time I was ever scared on the water that wasn't storm related. If you go, make sure you anchor on the edge of the raft of boats. You don't want someone running over you while you wait for the crowd to disperse. By all means let the rest of the boats leave before you try to head back to the ramp. We did this 3 years ago and took a second vehicle so the fmaily could just go home so the youngest could get to bed while I waited for the rest of the boats to pull out. Many of the boats on the water must have been slip holders cause I didn't have to wait at the ramp at all. Just be very careful navigating back to the ramp. For some reason a lot of the boaters from the north ramps went to the south side of the main lake and boaters from Camp Branch arm went to the north side. Lots of crossing traffic in the dark and the lake got pretty churned up. It's a rough ride back.
No way in hell!! I don't leave my address in a car, boat, truck, bike, etc. on the 4th. We gather on the neighbor's deck and watch the ones with disposable income blow a grand or two while we have bbq or fried fish and make sure our homes don't burn down. Raymore has a "shoot em if you got em" policy. No restrictions other than time. 9am - 10pm all week until the 4th, then it's till midnight. Gutters, roofs, lawns, etc full of spent fireworks falling out of the sky.
Be safe, my fishing brothers and sisters.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
Thanks for the tips on speed limits after dark! Michael, you must think I'm crazy!!! You should KNOW better than THAT by now! BTW, I ran into Jin yesterday and we chatted about you and fishing for a bit. I had no idea you'd been in the French Foreign Legion!!
Forget the fireworks the real show will be at the ramps after(LOL)
May all your live wells be full.Dave
