Way to jump in there and get things under control man. Twenty times more than what a lot of folks would do. Some people probably wouldn't have picked the guy up after he bailed would have made him swim back to the bank.

Yeah it was a small speed boat with an outboard. Coil shorted out and caught fire could have easily been stopped if the guy had any clue about his boat. Not too sure I was very level headed about it while it was happening, there was alot of cussing and finally just told him to get the hell outta the way. My buddy said he could hear me from the dock and thought I was gonna just push him off his boat, adrenaline kicked in and took over couldn’t help it. I didn’t post to get recognition for it (but I appreciate it) more to just remind everyone to check your safety equipment because it can at happen at any time. BWBI sounds real good. I hammered him pretty good about his lack of common sense when we got back to the crowded dock so hopefully being owned in front of everyone by someone half his age will make him think twice next time but having to swim back after I pushed him out of his own boat would have really drove it home. Thanks for the kind words fellas.

I appreciate the "learn your boat" idea. I'm currently using a buddies boat. It ran like crap, I took it to the shop. Runs like a raped ape now. That said, I know where the batteries are and can disconnect them, but I don't have a clue about the engine cover or fuel disconnect. Will fix that lack of knowledge the next time I walk up to the boat. I do know where the fire ex. is, but it may be as old as the boat. Will check that also.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.

I thought the post was about the fishing. I was getting ready to go load the boat. instead I checked the fire extinguisher.

That would have been a disaster if the fire would have reached the fuel lines...thank god you were there to help him.
