Default Tried Pulling Cranks for the First Time

The catfishing was slow so we went to Walmart, bought crankbaits, and used our catfish rods to troll them around some bluffs over by the Highway 7 bridge on Truman outside of Warsaw. We graphed a lot of fish around the thermocline in 25-30' of water. In a few hours we managed to catch 20 crappie, 2 hybrids, and a tiny blue catfish. Not too bad for just diving in without much of a clue on how to do it. I definitely see why everybody raves about it!

Looks like I will be asking for Bandit 300's and some longer crappie rods with line counter reels for birthday and xmas!

One thing that surprised me was that we caught a few dinky 6" crappie on a jumbo deep diving crankbait that we had out. The fish wasn't much bigger than the bait! I have always thought of crappie as a light line, small bait type of fish.

Congrats on the fine catch. I've never pulled cranks for crappie but I intend to do so soon.
