    Default Terrova Information

I was looking to buy a Terrova. I thought with spider rigging this would be a good way to unclutter the front deck and the I-pilot feature seemed a good way to stay on fish or repeat a productive track. I was told, however, that the transducer that comes in the unit will not work for down scan and that it is very hard to mount a transducer to the unit because the cable can't be wrapped around the shaft like usual. Has anyone dealt with this issue and come up with a remedy.

Not wise to install any external transducer to a power drive trolling motor whatever the type. Maybe touch base with the guys at Marine Repair Center in Springfield, good info on a consistent basis. And i'm sure there are people that disagree but don't understand how you can get a solid side scan reading from a t.m. mount anyway with the head turning and the speed that is required for the unit to read?

The US2 option for the Terrova will not work with DS/SI, only certain models of both lowrance and HB 2d sonar, the MK web site provides list of compatible 2d units it works with. The ducer cable can be "attached" to the Terrova shaft but it seems only HB ducer wires do it the best. look for a thread in the electronics forum on mounting the ducer to PD2 or Terrova, you can run the wire up the groove on the shaft but to do a clean install, I believe you have to dismantle the TM. The thread or threads discuss this pretty well.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I have an external ducer installed on my terrova, but it is only 2D....haven't got the $$$ yet for the DI ducer, but I don't have any qualms about putting it on. You can buy the Terrova without the US2 to save a few bucks. jimp is right about reading the main forum/fishing electronics and trolling motors.... a lot of guys have had trouble with RF noise, but Humminbird is helping most of them out and they are all pretty happy with the DI. I haven't read anything about SI. Mounting the transducer is fairly simple, and yes, you will have to remove one screw to do a proper install, but it only took me about 20 minutes total.
