I don't know Jared, I think there's plenty to be said about finding fish willing to bite, but there's a whole LOT to be said about putting them in the boat after finding them. I've fished with quite a few people from this board and almost always been outfished. They're all pulling up slabs and I can't manage to get bit much less a keeper! They don't call 'em NoJoe's for nothin'!!

I definitely need to work on my ability to find cooperative fish. But I also have a LOT to learn from those that can turn an unwilling fish into dinner. Just my 2½¢.

Not trying to upstage Kaz....he clearly owns real estate at the corner of Wisdom and BS.Rofl

I understand that some guys can out fish others based on past experience. That can be accounted to a lot of things for sure. But if you are not where the fish are no one is going to catch them. A lot of days it does not matter what you put in front of them they will eat it. Other days it takes the right bait presented the right way. That is when the better fisherman shine by knowing what it takes to entice a bite from sluggish fish. So I guess it takes a combo of several things to make a good jig or minnow fisherman. I just feel being able to find fish is the first and most important part. With out finding fish it does not matter what technique or bait you use.

Pffft I am the best jig fisherman in the world! I catch them on hot dogs and PB&J samiches! I am a legend ( in my own mind) and for a ham samich I can teach you all I know!

It's all about confidence and time on water usually.

I can only add this; prior to joining the site my crappie adventures were tie up to a tree, drown minners, drink Coke and smoke cigarettes. I have had the great fortune to accompany Monty a couple of times and Bwillaub a bunch of times. I learned basic color patterns, how to dip trees, how to slow troll etc etc. from these two gentlemen as well as many other members who took the time to answer my questions. I'll NEVER be in their league as fishermen, but I am certainly glad to call them friends. Catch fish or not, makes no difference to me, time spent with friends, away from work=perfect day for me.

What is this "jig fishing" you speak of?
