henry sever 2-5
loaded up one of my buddies this morning and we headed off to thomas hill. we got to talking and decided to try sever which is a local conservation lake. we decided to save a little money on gas (i spent 40.00 on slab busters yesterday at the hobbie hut) and stayed close to home. first tree we came to my partner caught a 12 inch black and i thought alright it's gonna be a good day. well it actually was a good day to be fishing but the catching wasn't so good. we ended up with 10 keepers and that first one was by far the biggest.

Wow! Sounds like you had a pretty good day catman. When the water warms a bit, I'll be getting my Kayak up there, looking for a couple of twins.

Thanks for the report on Henry Sever Lake. That is a very nice lake for a conservation lake. I notice that you are from northeast Missouri and was wondering if you ever fish Hunnewell Lake?
-
Hunnewell Lake is a nice small lake, caught a lot of smaller crappie there but the limit is 30! You have to use their boats and electric motors only and no live bait in water (minnows, crayfish or leeches) They don't want to get any zebra mussels in there because it's a hatchery lake. Nice!

Hey BarryG. You are right about the no live bait in water. I have been fishing this lake since I was a kid. There are some very nice fish in this lake. I have caught 2 15inch crappie from this lake. They where both caught less than 100yards from the floating dock. Very good blue catfish are also in the lake. I have seen a few in the 40lb range.

WOW! I enjoy fishing up there, I just don't like the 7" crappie. It would be a lot more fun if they could get to be 9" or 10" and it's a long way for me.
