I had the same results as vic n...I fished out of W ramp. Water temp was 43°, air temp was 29° and warming as the day went on. Very little wind from the ESE. Overcast skies that gave way to filtered sunlight around 1pm.
Fished bridge pillars at W - Nothin' but dinks. Moved to the first cove south of W on the East side and hit the brush pile. Dinks and a few keepers, one that went 11". Moved again down to Shady Hollow and fished the trees. Picked up only one or two more keepers there and several more shorts.
All were 18-25 fow down 8-12' and all fish were under 12". And yes, a very light bite. I had to hold it still and let the fish just suck it in it's mouth.
I used Buzzy's 1/16 oz sickle hook jigs rigged with Chapman Creek skirts in White/Blue and White/Chartreuse. Both colors worked the same. Water was pretty clear...for Smithville. You could see your jig about 2' down.
I had issues with my graph but finally got that to work. Had issues with my big motor and never did get that to work. Just used the trolling motor to get around. Slow, but....got the job done I guess. Not a bad day to be out on the water, despite the problems. All fish were released.
There were 4 trailers at W when I got there and 3 others when I left. About four more arrived right after 4pm making an evening run. Lots of people getting some cold weather fishing in!
