Default Cold Fronts in the Fall!!!!!!!!

Does a cold front in the fall affect the crappie bite like it does in the spring?

Good luck to everyone fishing this weekend

Might be tough to get many responses until after this weekend - camp is going on as well as the Crappie Masters Classic. Yes it can affect the fishing, however not as bad as the spring. The weather is already trending cooler, as long as it isn't harsh you will be fine. I say there is only one time to go fishing and that is whenever you can.

Cold Fronts will tighten up a bite year 'round typically. Like Shockley says, fish whenever you can. You can still catch them, but you have to put it on their nose or get a reaction strike.

My two cents,,,,which is more than my opinion is worth. I believe spring cold fronts will cause crappie to pull back, retreat, reposition, or relocate. They're in love and seeking a preferred combination of bottom structure, daylight, water temps, etc. In the fall they have the feedbag on and relate to forage. Agree with earlier posts, fall front might change the aggressiveness of the bite or how you have to present the bait but don't think they relocate far from where they were unless it's major and drops water temp by a lot. Don't let a cool front like this minor one deter you, both guys above said go when you get the chance, couldn't agree more. I've learned more under challenging conditions than I ever did when they're hitting like a bunch of trained goldfish. To me the absolute toughest part of a cold front is when the ski blues off and the wind dies for that one pristine period when the lake gets like a mirror or when the wind switches to the NE or E. When it's still dominant from the N / NW they'll hit just fine.

agree with the above, and would like to add,, in the fall when the front comes in I head for shade, south bluffs, deep brush, rock piles, and if they are not on the south bluffs they will be close.... luck to you
