    Default Good luck bad luck

The good luck--This past month has been some of the best summer fishing that I have ever had. Within a few miles of Bucksaw, my summer weekend home, I have caught a ton of big fish and a limit is the rule rather than the exception.
The bad luck-- This past weekend 3 rod tips were broken, one in the trolling motor and 2 unknowns. Saturday morning after the storm I found my boat had almost sunk, the steering wheel was within 3 inches of the water and most of my gear had floated away but most of it was later found, thanks Scarin. After bailing a LOT of water and getting a tow back to the ramp, the drain was pulled and I was very busy drying tackle and the boat. Water was above the tightened fuel fill cap and the vent. I put in a few cans of sea foam to help if much water go into the fuel tank. Gonna try it out this Saturday.

Great job on the fishing and glad everything turned out alright, but man I would hurt myself if I saw my boat like that. That is the stuff nightmares are made of your boat sinking. I think I would have drained all the gas and oil just to make sure everything is alright before I started my motor. With water over your vent cap I am sure you have water in your gas.

Hope everything works tomorrow. Had mine sink at spring camp. Broke the transducer bracket and took out a screw to put the transducer in the boat to keep it from slapping the boat. By morning boat had over a hundred gallons of water. Was lucky it was at marina dock and vaccumed the water out and it was fine. Water didn't get that high to get in the tank thanks to the double hull full of foam. Did short out the trolling motor fuse at the battery though.

Should have listened to Pole Bender, he was right. Tried to run it and it died. Back out of the water and on the trailer. Siphoned the fuel out and and added sea foam and more fuel, sloshed it around. Pulled hose off of water seperator on motor, drained the carb bowls, and pumped the rest out with primer bulb. Finally got it running on on Sunday eve. Concrete, thanks for the fishing trip in the slab slayer, enjoyed the time with you and Dalton catching them Hogs.

It can always be worse, glad it wasn't in your case.
