Default Kayak fishing out of or around Bucksaw.

Thinking of getting the kayak out Sunday morning and heading down to Truman. I see on the map hwy U, is there a place to drag/launch a yak in that area? If I launched at the ramp at Bucksaw how far of a paddle would some good crappie ground be from there? Which direction? I'm not asking specific honey holes, but I'd really like to get some fishing done. I can use minners, but jigs are easier with the yak. I have a tow behind bucket that I just put in the cargo hold when trying to cover distance, then throw out to fish, fish on a stringer, etc.

Yea yea yea, I had heart surgery Friday morning, but I'm feeling fantastic, man. FANTASTIC!! If you need prostate, colon, kidney, or of course heart surgery do research for and travel if you must for the de Vinci Intuitive Surgery system. Locally it can be found at KUMed. Heart surgery with no bones cut, no holes over a couple inches, and I was in Friday and out Monday, valve repaired, another hole patched... THREE DAYS! Ok, I'm off my cheering platform.

Another note, I have maps for the area, and a depth/fish finder that shoots through the hull and works well.

I don't know if there is a place off of U, but there is a small ramp at the end of PP just south of Tightwad that pretty close to some good fishing. this is a little downstream from Bucksaw.

That strecth should be good. About 300 yards from the marina is Angel cove which is just past the trees talked about above. It can be good this time of year also. It has a tree row right down the middle of it amd some cedars on the north bank. All can produce fish. A buddy of mine and his wife just bought kayaks amd have been fishing in Angel cove.

Wow, thanks guys. Is Angel cove and Cedar Creek cove the same, kind of right after the lake turns east? Or is Angel the little cove that is before the lake turns east? I'll do a few practice loads Saturday to see if I'm going to be able. I had back issues one day and found that loading it in/out of the back of the truck with the truck facing down ramp was easier.

Angel is the little cove just before the bend to the east. Another good place for a yak trip would be pretty bob creek. It is at the end of W hwy east of Clinton. W hwy turns to gravel and dead ends at the water. Put in and turn left and there is more water than you could fish in a month in a yak. Lots of hedge trees and hardwoods to dip in there amd would be away from boat traffic and waves better than the strech by Bucksaw marina.

Thumbs Up good idea w used to be rough as you got toward the lake but i haven't been down it in years.i notice from the water it looks like the local group has improved the ramp/parking.i used to put in there in just a small boat and troller.
as drd said that access south of tightwad is another great place to put in and fish right there.

If I did the W thing, is there a bait shop in Clinton or do I need to go to Tightwad? W sounds like my speed for now.
