I learned every single time Alex sets something up at Smithville, the weather turns to doo doo.....all hail the King of Regattas!!!!

But seriously, I have learned that light weight braided line works awesome...especially when dipping trees or flipping around structure!!!
I believe in catch and release.....right into the grease!!!!!

this summer I learned about the "mullberry bite" in the creeks around the missouri river. this old geezer friend of mine showed me this trick and it works really good. first ya find a good mullberry tree and collect enough for bait and snacks(this takes more than you think because mullberry's are really good) then I used my 10ft wally marshal with 10lb mono, no weight, and a #6 bait hook. to hook a berry, ya stab it right in the core, but crossways, and don't push the hook all the way through. then ya just slowly troll up the creek, bout 10ft off the brush or bank, and flip your berry toward any fishy lookin spots. crappie and big gills will hit em the second they hit the water. then if ya don't get a bite, let em sink and catfish and BIG,HUGE, carp go nutzo over em too. this works especially awsome if ya find some mullberry trees that are leaning out over the water and they are dropping berry's.

I even take trips that all I do is try new areas. It can pay to spend a little time to find new spots instead of hitting the same ole spots each trip. If they are not biting in the normal spots some people give up and head home. That is the time to try something differant and fish an area you have never tried or seen anyone fish before. It could pay off on that trip and in future trips.

I've learned a lot this spring.
The best spots to wade fish are always 2" deeper than you waders are tall.
No matter how well you protect the tip of your favorite jig pole, you will step on it, shut it in the tail gate, set a cooler on it, ect. The piece of junk jig poles are indestructible.

A trolling motor cannot out run a p***** off wasp.

If the weather guessers are calling for 10 mph wind out of the south, you automatically add another 10 mph.

A horsefly hitting you at 65 mph hurts like H***.

    Don't shake up Beagles beer.

No matter how well you pack for a weekend fishing trip, you'll forget something important.

Water moccasins make folks dance funny.

It is possible to knock someone off a jet ski with a 7UP bottle when they harass you out fishing (ask Torch)

These are a few things I've learned this spring
