    Question crankin'

has anybody ever had much luck on crankbaits? i catch them on spinnerbaits all the time, but never on a crankbait (i don't have any white ones!). i just keep reading a lot about it in all the mags recently and want a little more input.

I have had a lot of luck for crappie throwing crankbaits. I usually use bomber fat A's either Fire Tiger or a shad color. The other cranks that I have had luck with are Bandit 200 0r 300 series. Pearl w/ red eyes, Tennesse shad, and chrome with a black back.

As you can see from my name, I'm a jig man. I have also seen the magazines and all. People even troll the things. Someone will have to make a believer out of me to make me throw a crank rather than creep a jig around a log.

    Fryguy,
Depend on what you mean by successful. Most fish I caught cranking have been larger fish however it takes more time to do so. I run out of patience usually and change back to tubes.

The most productive for me so far was been in deeper water there is a ledge that goes from 35’ to 55’ I travel back and forth across that caught four fish 12”-14” in about a hour that way. As in most of the magazines the fish hit when I stop move it. Ok I know you think wow 55’ give me a break that’s the only place on Truman that I did not get tangle and showed fish.

I started trolling Bandits last year, mostly 200 and 300 series. Caught 17 slabs one morning on Clearwater Lake in September when I was told not to waste my time because the Crappie wasn't biting. Being creative gets more filets.
