wow, what a dandy crappie, fished out there for year's and 90% have been under 8 inches. congrat's, got me the fever to get out there... as far as a taxidermist, iv'e had 2 mounted by craig jone's. has a shop off the independence square. been in business over 30 year's. ive seen a lot of mounted crappie, and he by far does the best paint job, IN MY OPINION. i've sent a few friend's that way for their crappie and they have been extremely happy! not knocking don frank at all. he's won a lot of award's for his mount's, and it may have been just a fluke, but i had him do my first crappie several year's back, and well i'll just say when i got it back i did'nt realize crappie were blue. hear's a pic of my 3.7 i had craig jone's do this past year. he charge's $250, well worth the money IN MY OPINION. hope this help's. good luck on whoever you decide. again nice crappie!

That is ONE NICE FISH CrappieDarlin.....Congrats!!
I just KNOW it was a big one!!!

I mentioned Don Frank because he had done a small "first catch" bluegill for me and he seemed like a nice guy. I know he has some beautiful mounts in his shop and has won several national awards. However, I would certainly lean more toward KCMO CrappieSlayer's suggestion .. sounds like he knows what he's talking about a little more than me - and that's pretty rare that I ever say that! (smile)
I really am curious now if that was CrappieDarlin I read about in the paper .. hope you'll clarify that for us. Whether it was you in the paper or not, congrats on a great fish!
i hear ya billd,,, he has some dandy mount's at his shop and is a super nice guy. he did'nt have any crappie in there when i was there, but he had some bluegill's, largemouth, and walleye that looked great! crappiedarlin if you do happen to take it to craig, make sure you have extra time. he love's to talk hunting and fishing. theres a taxidermy rite down the road from his shop, couple of buddie's had fish mounted there and they just looked to flashy, not real, if that make's sense.

Last time I caught a real big crappie it cost Two dollars a inch to have it mounted I decieded to eat it I didnt have the 14 dollars at the time. BY the way very nice fish.
