    Default Twain - 2/27

Good news........the ice is almost completely off, water temp is ranging between 34 & 39 degrees, depending on where you are at. Entire lake is mudded up, with South Fork being especially dirty. Water clarity improved some as we made our way down the lake, but still quite muddy.

Bad news..........not sure if it was because of the fluctuation of the lake, the latest cold front, the impending storm, or maybe we just aren't that good, but we didn't boat a fish in 3 hours. Got one bite, that was all. Marked fish on structure in 30 ft. of water, about 12-15 ft. down, but they were not interested.

Oh well, atleast we got out of the house and made an attempt! That fog was somethin else...... GPS is a wonderful thing.

It's tough fishing conditions with cold and murky water. Were you fishing main channel or did you get back in some of the creek areas?

Going down later in week to get some boat work taken care of and will be checking on the fishes. Looks like lake is up 3'
in last 24 hours. Must have had some kinda bad storm, 30000 out of power in several counties around there.

    LSL,

We put in at South Fork and ran up to Brush Creek....... fished for maybe 30 minutes and it just felt wrong. Too muddy and didn't mark fish.....so we ran down and fished some main channel structure and also the mouth of Sandy, which is where I got my one bite. There's a couple places I wanted to try up in the North Fork, but between the fog and dwindling daylight, we decided to call it.

    Ben,

Welcome to Mark Twain in the spring, right? Up and down, up and down....... I feel as though it might be another year of high water, which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

The next 30 days is probably the toughest fishing for MTL. I hold off until April 1 and the fish become much more predictable. Otherwise it is a here today and gone tomorrow. Just my two cents of 50 years of fishing the Salt River area.

Very true, OSS. May I ask what the water temp is on Truman? By the way, nice job in the fog. And thank's for the report U.

Supposed to have rain and showers later in week. Think I'll head out tomorrow and get some things done and maybe fishin'
in before it happens. Have to be there over weekend anyway. Dang, been long time off water.
Catman, last time was with you, when ever that was. Colder than heck but had good time!
